Itinerary
After breakfast, drive to Sangla. The journey begins here and you get to visit some beautiful villages along the way such as Fagu, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda, and the Apple orchards around the region. Visit Sainj, Rampur, Jeori and Wangtu bridge en route to Sangla.Check in to the hotel post-arrival. Visit the Kamru fort if time permits. Overnight stay and dinner at the hotel.
Morning after relaxing breakfast, basking in the first rays of the sun, and later head towards Chitkul. Chitkul can be described as one of the most scenic settlements in the valley and the last inhabited village before the India-China border. This short drive from Sangla to Chitkul will be one of the most scenic drives you’ll take with plenty of opportunities to take stunning photographs. Walk around the Baspa river and pay tribute to the Mathi Goddess at the temple in the village. After spending time in Chitkul, we turn around and head to Tabo which would be our first stop in the glorious, mystical Spiti Valley. The second largest village of the Spiti Valley, Tabo, is known worldwide for its 1000-year-old Tabo Monastery. Walk around this UNESCO world heritage site and gain a deeper insight into Buddhism. Unlike other monasteries in the Spiti Valley, the Tabo monastery is located at the bottom of the valley. Overnight stay at Tabo.
Enjoy the beautiful morning in Tabo exploring the Tabo Monastery and Tabo Caves. The Tabo Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Spiti Valley. There are meditation caves above the Tabo village which are carved out of the mountains and were used for meditation by the monks. Leave Tabo and head towards Dhankar village. Visit the Dhankar Monastery and make sure to enjoy the view of the Spiti River from the top of the Dhankar Castle. From Dhankar, head towards Pin Valley for sightseeing and reach Kaza in the evening for overnight stay and dinner.
After breakfast at the homestay, visit the famous Key Monastery. Key Monastery is one of the biggest monasteries in Spiti Valley. It is also one of the oldest and most revered monasteries in the area. After Key Monastery, proceed towards Kibber. Kibber village is most popular during winters as during this period a variety of Himalayan wildlife comes down from the higher mountains. Just 5 kms ahead of Kibber is the iconic Chicham Bridge, which is one of the highest bridges in Asia. Dinner and overnight stay in Kaza.
This morning, have a healthy breakfast and proceed towards Hikkim village. Hikkim is the village with the highest post office in the world. After Hikkim, you will visit Komic. Komic village holds the title of the village with the highest motorable road in Asia. Thereafter, visit the Langza village, also known as the Fossil Village. The snow-capped mountains and the iconic Buddha statue near Langza are a perfect place for some quality alone time. Overnight stay at Kaza.
Start your day early, check out from the hotel and proceed to Nako. Watch the vistas en route over Hindustan-Tibet Highway. Check out Khab, confluence of Spiti and Sutlej Rivers. See the Reo Purgyil peak – the highest peak of Himachal Pradesh from Khab Bridge. On the way, visit Nako. Nako has a beautiful lake which freezes in the winter and villagers play ice hockey during this period. See the temple of Padmasambhava, the second incarnation of Lord Buddha who made Buddhism popular in the Trans-Himalayas. The day has a surprise where a visit to the village of a 500-year-old mummy makes your journey exciting. After spending time in Nako, we turn around and head to Kalpa. Legend has it that Kalpa was the winter home of Lord Shiva. If it’s true, he couldn’t have found a more remarkable abode for himself, with enthrallingly majestic views of the Kinner-Kailash and Jorkanden peaks looming right above the village. Overnight stay at Kalpa.
Start your day early, check out from the hotel and proceed to Shimla. Upon reaching, check into your hotel. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Chandigarh airport or railway station for your homeward journey.
